About H. Upmann Cigars
Herman Upmann was a German banker who moved to Havana in the 1840s and fell in love with Cuban cigars. He began shipping cigars back to European clients in branded cedar boxes. An innovation that helped establish modern cigar packaging. By the early 1900s, H. Upmann was one of the most prestigious Cuban cigar brands.
After the Cuban Revolution, the H. Upmann brand was nationalized. The non-Cuban rights eventually passed to Altadis USA (now part of Scandinavian Tobacco Group), which produces the current U.S. Line in the Dominican Republic. The H. Upmann 1844 Reserve is the core offering. A mild-to-medium Dominican blend with Indonesian wrapper that delivers smooth, creamy flavors of cedar, nuts, and subtle sweetness.
The Vintage Cameroon features an African Cameroon wrapper for richer, more complex flavors. The Banker is the premium line, inspired by Herman Upmann's banking heritage, with a Habano wrapper and medium-full body. The 1844 Anejo uses aged tobaccos for additional depth.
